There is never anything for me or my partner, we don't exist. I raised my 3 boys without any handouts, baby bonuses or the gross amount of money handed out these days, we bought our house without the 1st home buyers grant, it didnt exist then. What really annoys me is that I lost my job last year for 9mths but I couldnt get a cent in assistance as my partner earnt too much, I couldnt even get a health care card or any help job hunting as I wasn't on benefits but a couple of years ago when he was retrenched he couldnt get anything as I earned $1 too much before tax for him to qualify for anything, the whole lot sucks, I'm not married to him so where is written that I suddenly become his responsibility so I pretty much lived on nothing for that time except for what he could spare. They wonder why people get peeved at all the double standards we are expected to swallow. What happened to you had the kids so they are your responsibility not the governments or anyone elses for that matter.

Why don't they tax the banking industry like they do the mining industry? They make billions in profit.

The mining industry makes the largest profits in the country and MUST learn to share their wealth! Did you know the top five wealthiest people in Australia are all big, fat miners living off the fat of this land, eg Balmy Palmer! Their greed is unspeakable and they are not even prepared to pay the paltry mining tax which I think should be increased substantially in order to subsidise the country for the huge environmental disasters these mining companies leave behind. Don't believe the "hype"that mining companies employ huge numbers of Australians - the reality is, they don't and the profits either go straight into their private bank accounts or overseas.

Just like Australia's ship building industries back in the 1970's were destroyed when their profits failed to meet the cost of maintenance, the mining industry will in the future likely be taken over by foreign organisations, and yet another Australian industry and its workers will go.

Its a great budget. No deficit. Benefits for families and the needy. Reduced benefits for the wealthy. What more could you ask. If you are not happy, see if you can find another country to live in that's better. You wont find one

It's easy to have a budget surplus if you fail to include costs for works already committed like the National Broadband Network. Wait until the Carbon Tax hits, and then see if those menial handouts are really all that good. Don't forget that Australia is still borrowing around $100,000,000 a day, which has to be taken into account and paid out for this budget to actually create a surplus.

As usual, the working low-income single, childfree people get nothing.

Dollar was too high anyway. Farmers are happier now.
