Although my father was at Gallipoli in 1915, I think that the story of that bungled bit of warfare is too narrow and sad for ongoing commemoration; and Australia Day on Jan 26 is too divisive with its connotations of invasion for aboriginal people. The 9th of May would be the best day to celebrate our national democracy, remembering the openings of the Commonwealth Parliament in Melbourne 1901 and Canberra 1927.

These two days are very very hard to split. I think it should be ANZAC DAY all those young man that gave their lives for there country.

They are both equally important days and should be cellabrated equally for good reason. The founding of Australia and the sacreficese made by those to protect our way of life!!!

Australians need an Australia Day - Its unfortunate that the idiot pollies chose January the 26th

Now the new arrivals to our country dont know the difference and probable never will....

Should be related to the Eureka Stockade event

3rd December 1854

Far more appropriate
